Hello!
I had a dream the other night that I was real blogger.
Like, Ree Drummond real. I must be spending too many afternoons
watching the Food Network. Anyway, when I woke up I
remembered...Oh my gosh I remember having a blog! Yes, sadly it
has been that long ago that I have blogged on my blog. (hahaha....I
crack myself up)
There is no way on earth to catch everyone up to date, and if we are Facebook "friends" you already know the craziness and misadventures of my life. The last entry was February 2012, before Katey graduated from high school....and she did. Now she is married! She married Trevor Barth on November 5, 2014. They are living in Sioux Falls being the blissfully happy young, poor, struggling college students that we all were at one point. I'm really proud of their determination for working full time jobs and going to school.
Sam is a junior in high school and has finished his Eagle Scout Rank, driving the suburban I want to drive and working a ton to save money for his mission and college. He passes through the house from time to time. How do I know this? He EATS everything in sight! He is 6'0ft. and only weighs 160. The boy needs a few sandwiches I would say.
Grace is two weeks from being 12. I can not believe this sassy, beautiful, funny preteen is the baby of our family. There are somedays I miss her being little, but then we talk and she is so smart and funny! She is in 6th grade at the middle school. She loves to read and is in Gifted Ed for reading. They have been learning about WWII this year and had a project to spend a week eating the foods that the Germans would have to eat. Also using the rations chart. She did pretty good for two days. Even taking a lunch of a boiled egg, water, slice of bread and apple butter. (she did get a little grumpy by the end of day two...from a lack of food) On Day Three, she ate Braunschweiger. If you are not familiar with this "product" ....let me give you the definition:
Braunschweiger (named
after Braunschweig, Germany)
is a type of liverwurst (pork liver sausage)
which, if stuffed in natural casings, is nearly always smoked.
Commercial products often contain smoked bacon, and are stuffed into
fibrous casings.
Umm....ick! That is all.
She took one bite, I took the picture for the teacher to prove she tried it, she spit it out and said...loudly...."I'm done! Give me some real food!"
Lastly.....we haven't moved in almost...almost 4 years! We moved in July of 2011. I can't believe it. We aren't moving either. I have just put a salon into our home and I'm livin' the dream. This is what I went to cosmetology school for. I always wanted a salon in my home. I have a great aunt in Vernal Utah who had a salon in her converted garage for as long as I can remember. I remember as a little girl going to Aunt Emma Jean's house and sitting in her styling chairs and spinning. Thinking....this is the coolest thing ever! I now have my dream job. Thanks honey :)
Here's hoping spring comes soon on the prairie!
Love
from our home to yours,
Shelly
